Bauhaus Construction Set

Sometimes learning is best done with something tactile or unorthodox, especially design philosophies of the early 20th century. The task was to create a way to explain the philosophy of the Bauhaus movement through a method in both a physical and visual medium. Inspired by the Legos and Lincoln Logs of my childhood, this is a construction set that explores the philosophy of the Bauhaus manifesto which states that “the ultimate aim of all visual arts is the complete building.”

The Complete Building

The individual pieces of this construction set display the founding principles of the Bauhaus movement’s manifesto through its traditional colors, shapes, and typography. Together, the pieces of the set can form a variety of structures, each formation conveying the essence of the Bauhaus movement in physical form.
